Solicitation for Grant Applications (SGA); Office of Apprenticeship and the Women's Bureau SGA
The Employment and Training Administration published a document in the Federal Register on April 22, 2008, announcing the availability of funds and solicitation for grant applications (SGA) for the Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations. This notice is an amendment to the SGA and it amends the ``Additional Award Administration Information'' and ``Other information'' sections.
Workforce Investment Act; Lower Living Standard Income Level
Under Title I of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 (Pub. L. 105-220), the Secretary of Labor annually determines the Lower Living Standard Income level (LLSIL) for uses described in the law. WIA defines the term ``Low Income Individual'' as one who qualifies under various criteria, including an individual who received income for a six-month period that does not exceed the higher level of the poverty line or 70 percent of the LLSIL. This issuance provides the Secretary's annual LLSIL for 2008 and references the current 2008 Health and Human Services ``Poverty Guidelines.''
Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA); Notice of Incentive Funding Availability Based on Program Year (PY) 2006 Performance
The Department of Labor, in collaboration with the Department of Education, announces that eight states are eligible to apply for Workforce Investment Act (WIA) (Pub. L. 105-220, 29 U.S.C. 2801 et seq.) incentive awards authorized by section 503 of the WIA.
Proposed Collection for OMB Approval for Work-Flex State Plan Submission and Reporting Requirements; Comment Request
The Department of Labor, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden conducts a preclearance consultation program to provide the general public and federal agencies with an opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing collections of information in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA95) [44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A)]. This program helps to ensure that requested data can be provided in the desired format, reporting burden (time and financial resources) is minimized, collection instruments are clearly understood, and the impact of collection requirements on respondents can be properly assessed. Currently, the Employment and Training Administration is soliciting comments concerning The Work Flex State Plan Submission and Reporting Requirements. Office of Apprenticeship and the Women's Bureau; Notice of Availability of Funds and Solicitation for Grant Applications for Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) Grants
The Women's Bureau (WB) and the Employment and Training Administration's (ETA's) Office of Apprenticeship (OA), U.S. Department of Labor (DOL or Department), announce the availability of $1,000,000 to establish a grant program for the purpose of assisting employers and labor unions in the placement and retention of women in apprenticeship and nontraditional occupations. This program year 2007 SGA is authorized under the WANTO Act of 1992, Pub. L. 102-530, 29 U.S.C. 2501 et seq. To that end, the OA and the WB plan to disburse 2007 WANTO grant funds to three community-based organization (CBO)/registered apprenticeship program (RAP) consortia to conduct innovative projects to improve the recruitment, selection, training, employment, and retention of women in apprenticeships in the construction industry. Each CBO/RAP consortium must consist of a minimum of: (1) A construction industry RAP sponsor; and (2) a CBO (which may be a faith- based organization (FBO) with demonstrated experience in providing job training services (soft skills and some hard skills), placement, and support services to women for construction industry jobs. It is anticipated that awards will be in the amount of approximately $300,000.

Pursuant to Section 10(a)(2) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (Pub. L. 92-463), as amended, and Section 166(h)(4) of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) [29 U.S.C. 2911(h)(4)], notice is hereby given of the next meeting of the Native American Employment and Training Council, as constituted under WIA.
