OSHA solicits public comment concerning its request for an extension of the information collection requirements contained in the Cadmium in General Industry Standard (29 CFR 1910.1027). This standard controls occupational exposure to cadmium, thereby preventing serious disease (e.g., lung cancer, prostate cancer, kidney disease) and death among exposed employees.

OSHA solicits comments concerning its request for an extension of the information collection requirements contained in the Asbestos in Construction Standard (29 CFR 1926.1101). The standard protects employees from adverse health effects from occupational exposure to Asbestos, including lung cancer, mesothelioma, asbestosis (an emphysema-like condition) and gastrointestinal cancer.

The Department of Labor, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden conducts a preclearance consultation program to provide the general public and Federal agencies with an opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing collections of information in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA95) [44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A)]. The request seeks information from the public to assist the Department in determining whether to issue guidelines concerning the fiduciary obligations of union officers, agents, shop stewards and other representatives under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act, as amended (LMRDA), and the content of any such guidelines. The comment period, which was to expire on October 28, 2005, is extended ninety days to January 26, 2006.
