The Department of Labor, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, conducts a preclearance consultation program to provide the general public and Federal agencies with an opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing collections of information in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA95) [44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A)]. This program helps to ensure that requested data can be provided in the desired format, reporting burden (time and financial resources) is minimized, collection instruments are clearly understood, and the impact of collection requirements on respondents can be properly assessed. Funding Formula for Grants to States
The Department of Labor is issuing a final rule to implement section 4(a)(1) of Public Law 107-288, the Jobs for Veterans Act (Act), which amends 38 U.S.C. 4102A. This final rule establishes formula criteria for making funds available for veterans' employment services and the Transition Assistance Program (TAP). This rule replaces the Interim Final Rule and covers the second phase-in year of fiscal year 2005 and the permanent program beginning in fiscal year 2006.
