The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary safety zone encompassing all navigable waters on Lake Michigan within a small area near the northeast corner of Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois. The safety zone is needed to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from potential hazards created by a filming event. Mariners are urged to use caution when transiting the area and to stay east of the marine event. During the enforcement period listed below, entry into, transiting, or anchoring within the safety zone is prohibited unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Lake Michigan or a designated representative.

The safety zone is needed to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment on these navigable waters at Baltimore, MD, on September 5, 2021, (with alternate date of September 6, 2021) from potential hazards during a fireworks display to commemorate the Labor Day holiday. Entry of vessels or persons into this zone is prohibited unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port, Maryland-National Capital Region or a designated representative.

The Coast Guard is proposing to amend the anchorage regulations for Lockwoods Folly Inlet, NC, and adjacent waters, by establishing a new offshore anchorage and relocating and amending the existing explosives anchorage. The purpose of this proposed rule is to improve navigation and public safety by accommodating recent and anticipated future growth in cargo vessel traffic and vessel size that call on Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point and the Port of Wilmington, NC.
