The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is soliciting public comment on revisions to Voluntary Product Standard (PS) 20-15, American Softwood Lumber Standard. This standard, prepared by the American Lumber Standard Committee, serves the procurement and regulatory needs of numerous federal, state, and local government agencies by providing for uniform, industry-wide grade-marking and inspection requirements for softwood lumber. The implementation of the standard also allows for uniform labeling and auditing of treated wood and wood packaging materials. As part of a five-year review process, NIST is seeking public comment and invites interested parties to review the revised standard and submit comments.

Preliminary Draft of the NIST Privacy Framework
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks comments on the Preliminary Draft of the NIST Privacy Framework: A Tool for Improving Privacy through Enterprise Risk Management (``Preliminary Draft''). The Preliminary Draft was developed by NIST using information collected through the Request for Information (RFI) that was published in the Federal Register on November 14, 2018, and a series of open public workshops and webinars. NIST developed the Preliminary Draft in collaboration with public and private stakeholders. It is intended for voluntary use to help organizations: Better identify, assess, manage, and communicate privacy risks when designing or deploying systems, products, and services; foster the development of innovative approaches to protecting individuals' privacy; and increase trust in systems, products, and services. Proposed Voluntary Product Standard 1-09, Structural Plywood
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is soliciting public comment on a proposed revision to Voluntary Product Standard (PS) 1-09, Structural Plywood. The standard, prepared by the Committee for PS 1, establishes requirements (for those who choose to adhere to the standard) for the principal types and grades of structural plywood and provides a basis for common understanding among producers, distributors, and users of the product. This standard covers the wood species, veneer grading, adhesive bonds, panel construction and workmanship, dimensions and tolerances, marking, moisture content and packaging of structural plywood intended for construction and industrial uses.

The National Construction Safety Team (NCST) Advisory Committee (Committee) will hold an open in-person meeting on Friday, September 6, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Drafting the NIST Privacy Framework: Workshop #2
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will be hosting the second in a series of public workshops on the development of the Privacy Framework: An Enterprise Risk Management Tool (``Privacy Framework'') on May 13-14, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. In this two-day event, attendees will have an opportunity to actively engage in facilitated discussions to advance the development of the Privacy Framework. NIST will release a discussion draft of the Privacy Framework prior to the workshop, and will use the breakout sessions at the workshop to inform revisions to the discussion draft.
Artificial Intelligence Standards
The February 11, 2019, Executive Order on Maintaining American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence (AI) directs the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to create a plan for Federal engagement in the development of technical standards and related tools in support of reliable, robust, and trustworthy systems that use AI technologies (Plan). This notice requests information to help NIST understand the current state, plans, challenges, and opportunities regarding the development and availability of AI technical standards and related tools, as well as priority areas for federal involvement in AI standards-related activities. To assist in developing the Plan, NIST will consult with Federal agencies, the private sector, academia, non-governmental entities, and other stakeholders with interest in and expertise relating to AI.
