collections, which helps us assess the
impact of our information collection
requirements and minimize the public’s
reporting burden. The purpose of this
notice is to allow for 60 days of public
comment preceding submission of the

I. Abstract
NIST established the Organization of
Scientific Area Committees for Forensic
Science (OSAC) to enable a coordinated
U.S. approach to standards for the
forensic science disciplines. NIST seeks
broad participation from forensic
science practitioners, researchers,
meteorologists, statisticians,
accreditation bodes, defense, and
prosecution. NIST solicits selfnominations from these communities,
using the OSAC Membership
Application, to identify individuals
interested and qualified to contribute.
