Membership of the Senior Executive Service Standing Performance Review Boards
Pursuant to the requirements of 5 U.S.C. 4314(c)(4), the Department of Justice announces the membership of its 2008 Senior Executive Service (SES) Standing Performance Review Boards (PRBs). The purpose of a PRB is to provide fair and impartial review of SES performance appraisals, bonus recommendations and pay adjustments. The PRBs will make recommendations regarding the final performance ratings to be assigned, SES bonuses and/or pay adjustments to be awarded.
Hearing of the Review Panel on Prison Rape
The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) announces that the Review Panel on Prison Rape (Panel), will hold hearings in Orlando, Florida on August 27, 2008, Washington, DC, on September 10-11, 2008, Springfield, Massachusetts on September 24-25, 2008 and again in Washington, DC, on September 30 and October 1, 2008. The hearing times and location are noted below. The purpose of the hearings is to assist the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) in identifying common characteristics of victims and perpetrators of prison rape, and prison and prison systems with the highest and lowest incidence of prison rape. On June 25, 2008, BJS issued the report Sexual Victimization in Local Jails Reported by Inmates, 2007. The report provides a listing of local jails ranked according to the prevalence of sexual victimization, and formed the basis of the Panel's decision about which facilities would be the subject of testimony.
Administrative Claims Under the Federal Tort Claims Act; Delegation of Authority
On June 17, 2003, the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Civil Division delegated to the Secretary of Homeland Security the authority to settle administrative tort claims presented pursuant to the Federal Tort Claims Act where the amount of the settlement does not exceed $50,000. By including this delegation of authority in the Code of Federal Regulations, the Civil Division is alerting the general public to the delegation. This rule also implements the Administrative Dispute Resolution Act.
Solicitation for a Cooperative Agreement: Gender Responsive Management and Practice Assessment (Facility Version)
The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is soliciting proposals from organizations, groups or individuals who would like to enter into a cooperative agreement with NIC to work with an advisory team of experts on gender-informed policy and practice to complete the design and initial testing of a women offender policy and practice assessment protocol.
Proposed Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Protective Ensemble Standards for Law Enforcement and CBRN Protective Ensemble Certification Program Requirements
In an effort to obtain comments from interested parties, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, National Institute of Justice will make available to the general public two draft documents: (1) A draft standard entitled, ``CBRN Protective Ensemble Standard for Law Enforcement'' and (2) a draft companion document entitled, ``NIJ CBRN Protective Ensemble Certification Program Requirements''. The opportunity to provide comments on these two documents is open to industry technical representatives, public safety agencies and organizations, research, development and scientific communities, and all other stakeholders and interested parties.
