The National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) 95th Interim Meeting will be held January 24 to 27, 2010. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is distributing for public comment a proposed revision of Voluntary Product Standard (PS) 1-07, Structural Plywood. The proposed revised standard, PS 1-09, Structural Plywood, was prepared by the Standing Committee for PS 1 and establishes requirements, for those who choose to adhere to the standard, for the principal types and grades of structural plywood and provides a basis for common understanding among producers, distributors, and users of the product. Interested parties are invited to review the proposed standard and submit comments to NIST.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announces the Revised Draft Federal Information Processing Standard 140-3, Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules, for public review and comment. The draft standard, designated ``Revised Draft FIPS 140-3,'' is proposed to supersede FIPS 140-2.

Since 1896, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has accomplished its mission by advocating scientifically based consensus codes and standards, research, and education for safety related issues. NFPA's National Fire Codes[supreg], which holds over 270 documents, are administered by more than 225 Technical Committees comprised of approximately 7,000 volunteers and are adopted and used throughout the world. NFPA is a nonprofit membership organization with approximately 80,000 members from over 70 nations, all working together to fulfill the Association's mission.

Pursuant to the Federal Advisory Committee Act, 5 U.S.C. app., notice is hereby given that the Technology Innovation Program Advisory Board, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will meet Tuesday, December 8, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The Technology Innovation Program (TIP) Advisory Board is composed of ten members appointed by the Director of NIST who are eminent in such fields as business, research, science and technology, engineering, education, and management consulting. The purpose of this meeting is to review and make recommendations regarding general policy for the Technology Innovation Program, its organization, its budget, and its programs within the framework of applicable national policies as set forth by the President and the Congress. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks two categories of comments on the draft NIST Framework and Roadmap for Smart Grid Interoperability Standards, Release 1.0:

NIST invites manufacturers of electroshock weapons that deploy skin penetrating barbs for operation to attend a public meeting. The purpose of the meeting is for manufacturers to present to NIST nonproprietary information on their methods of measurement and test of the output of these weapons and associated lessons learned.

The Advisory Committee on Earthquake Hazards Reduction (ACEHR or Committee), will meet Monday, November 23, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, November 24, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The primary purpose of this meeting is to discuss and develop the 2010 Annual Report of the Effectiveness of the NEHRP Advisory Committee on Earthquake Hazard Reduction. The International Code Council (ICC), promulgator of the International Codes and Standards, maintains a process for updating the entire family of International Codes based on receipt of proposals from interested individuals and organizations involved in the construction industry as well as the general public. The codes are updated every three years (2009current edition, 2012, 2015 editions, etc.). In the past, the codes were updated on 2-18 month cycles, with an intervening supplement between cycles. Starting with the 2009/2010 Cycle, ICC is transitioning to a development cycle where there will only be a single cycle of code development with the codes split into two groups. For each group of codes, there are two hearings for each code development cycle; the first where a committee considers the proposals and recommends an action on each proposal and the second to consider comments submitted in response to the committee action on proposals.

Pursuant to the Federal Advisory Committee Act, 5 U.S.C. app. 2, notice is hereby given that the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Advisory Board, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will meet Thursday, September 24, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This meeting is being held in conjunction with MEP's Quarterly Update meeting in Dallas, TX. The MEP Advisory Board is composed of 10 members appointed by the Director of NIST who were selected for their expertise in the area of industrial extension and their work on behalf of smaller manufacturers. The Board was established to fill a need for external input on MEP. MEP is a unique program consisting of centers across the United States and Puerto Rico, with partnerships at the state, federal, and local levels. The Board works closely with MEP to provide input and advice on MEP's programs, plans, and policies. For this meeting, discussions will focus on a review of key findings and policy implications from the MEP Advisory Board's Future of Manufacturing paper. In addition, MEP will provide an overview of its strategy for technology acceleration and gather Board input and advice on open source innovation, including methods and tools for fostering technology adoption by smaller manufacturers. The Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology announces that the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board will meet Wednesday, July 29, 2009 from 8:30 a.m.. until 5 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Friday, July 31, 2009 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The portion of the meeting held from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday July 31, 2009 will be closed to the public.

Due to technical difficulties, NIST is extending the deadline for proposal submission for its Technology Innovation Program competition to 3 p.m. Eastern Time, Tuesday, July 7, 2009. NIST will accept only paper submissions during the extended time period.

The Department of Commerce's interest in the invention is available for non-exclusive, royalty-free licensing in the Field of Use of Advanced Encryption Standard S-box applications, in accordance with 35 U.S.C. 207 and 37 CFR part 404 to achieve expeditious commercialization of results of federally funded research and development.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in cooperation with the Australian Federal Government agency, Centrelink, will hold a public workshop on July 13-15, 2009, at the NIST Gaithersburg campus. The workshop is open to the public but requires registration. The goal of the 3-day workshop is to explore potential commercial implementations of the Protocol for Lightweight Authentication of Identity (PLAID) and the potential usefulness of this protocol to U.S. Federal agencies.
