This document modifies the definition of ``auditory assistance device'' in the Commission's rules to permit these devices to be used by anyone at any location for simultaneous language interpretation (simultaneous translation), where the spoken words are translated continuously in near real time. The revised definition permits unlicensed auditory assistance devices to be used to provide either auditory assistance or simultaneous translation, or both, without impeding these devices' capability to provide auditory assistance to persons with disabilities. This document also lowers the limit for these auditory assistance devices' unwanted emissions to the limits provided for other unlicensed devices in the Commission's rules.
