Walk-through and Handheld Metal Detector Standards Panel
The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is in the process of revising the Walk-through and Handheld Metal Detector Standards and developing corresponding certification program requirements. This work is being performed by a Special Technical Committee (STC), comprised of practitioners from the field, researchers, testing experts, certification experts, and representatives from stakeholder organizations. It is anticipated that the STC members will participate in six 2-day meetings over a 9-month time period with the goal of completing development of the standard and certification program requirements. It is anticipated that STC meetings will begin in mid- January 2010. Travel expenses and per diem will be reimbursed for all STC meetings; however, participation time will not be funded.
Vehicular Digital Multimedia Evidence Recording System Standard Special Technical Committee

NIJ is hosting this workshop specifically to introduce manufacturers to the revised NIJ Walk-through Metal Detector Standard and the revised NIJ Handheld Metal Detector Standard that are under development and to receive feedback. Participants are strongly encouraged to come prepared to ask questions and to voice suggestions and concerns.

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is hosting a Restraints Standard Workshop for manufacturers on Tuesday, October 6, 2009. The meeting will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center, 7800 East Tufts Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80237. NIJ is hosting this workshop specifically to introduce manufacturers to the new NIJ Restraints Standard that is under development and to receive feedback. This standard is a revised and enhanced version of the NIJ Standard for Metallic Handcuffs from 1982. Participants are strongly encouraged to come prepared to ask questions and to voice suggestions and concerns.
Proposed Vehicular Digital Multimedia Evidence Recording System Standard
In an effort to obtain comments from interested parties, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, National Institute of Justice (NIJ) will make available to the general public an initial draft standard entitled, ``Vehicular Digital Multimedia Evidence Recording System Standard.'' The opportunity to provide comments on this document is open to industry technical representatives; public safety agencies and organizations; forensic video analysts; research, development and scientific communities; and all other stakeholders and interested parties. We are especially requesting input related to environmental requirements of importance to end users.
