The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) is revisiting its ``Policy Statement on Affordable Housing and Historic Preservation,'' adopted in 1995 (1995 Policy). A Task Force composed of ACHP members has drafted a revised policy, and invites your views and comments. The Task Force will use your comments to finalize the draft policy before presenting it to the full ACHP membership for consideration and possible adoption.

Draft Program Comment Regarding World War II and Cold War Era Ammunition Storage Facilities
The Department of Defense (DoD) is formulating its plan on how to manage its inventory of World War II (1939-1946) and Cold War (1946- 1974) era ammunition storage facilities. In order to better meet its Federal historic preservation responsibilities in managing these properties, DoD has requested the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) to comment on the overall management of such properties, as opposed to submit each individual undertaking under such management to separate review. DoD and ACHP have drafted such a comment and now seek public input on it. ACHP will take into account this public input prior to deciding whether to issue the program comment.

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) is revisiting its ``Policy Statement Regarding Treatment of Human Remains and Grave Goods,'' adopted in 1988 (1988 Human Remains Policy). A Task Force composed of ACHP members has drafted a set of Working Principles, which are presented below, to guide possible revision of the 1988 Human Remains Policy. The ACHP invites your views and observations on these principles. The Task Force will use your comments to prepare a draft revision of the 1988 Human Remains Policy. That draft will then be subject to further consultation and opportunity to comment, before a final draft is presented to the ACHP membership for adoption.

Public Meeting Regarding the Pensacola Naval Air Station Historic District
The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) will hold a public meeting regarding the Navy's intent to demolish several buildings within the Pensacola Naval Air Station Historic District. After considering public input, the ACHP will issue its formal comments on the proposed action to the Navy. The Navy will take into account the ACHP's comments prior to making a final decision on the matter.

Exemption Regarding Historic Preservation Review Process for Effects to the Interstate Highway System
The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation has approved an exemption that would relieve Federal agencies from the requirement of taking into account the effects of their undertakings on the Interstate Highway System, except with regard to certain individual elements or structures that are part of the system. The proposed exemption was published in the Federal Register on December 29, 2004 with a 30 day period for public comment. Minor revisions were made in response to these comments.
