Internet Communication Disclaimers; Extension of Comment Period
On October 10, 2017, the Federal Election Commission reopened the comment period on the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (``ANPRM'') seeking comment on whether to begin a rulemaking to revise its regulations concerning disclaimers on certain internet communications and, if so, on what changes should be made to those rules. The Commission has decided to extend the comment period for one business day due to technological difficulties.
Internet Communication Disclaimers; Reopening of Comment Period
On October 13, 2011, the Federal Election Commission published an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (``ANPRM'') seeking comment on whether to begin a rulemaking to revise its regulations concerning disclaimers on certain internet communications and, if so, on what changes should be made to those rules. On October 18, 2016, the Commission reopened the comment period to receive additional comments in light of legal and technological developments since that document was published. The Commission has decided to again reopen the comment period to receive additional comments in light of developments since that document was published. The Commission is not seeking comment on, nor does it propose changes to, any other rules adopted by the Commission in the Internet Communications rulemaking of 2006.

Utah has scheduled a Special General Election on November 7, 2017, to fill the U.S. House of Representatives seat in the 3rd Congressional District being vacated by Representative Jason E. Chaffetz. A Special Primary Election, if necessary, will be held on August 15, 2017.\1\
Filing Dates for the Alabama Senate Special Elections
Alabama has scheduled special elections to fill the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. There are three possible special elections, but only two may be necessary. Primary Election: August 15, 2017. Possible Runoff Election: September 26, 2017. In the event that one candidate does not achieve a majority vote in his/her party's Special Primary Election, the top two vote-getters will participate in a Special Runoff Election. General Election: December 12, 2017.
Candidate Debates
On February 1, 2017, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ordered the Commission to reconsider its disposition of the Petition for Rulemaking filed by Level the Playing Field and to issue a new decision consistent with the Court's opinion. The Petition for Rulemaking asks the Commission to amend its regulation on candidate debates to revise the criteria governing the inclusion of candidates in presidential and vice presidential general election debates. In this supplement to the Notice of Disposition, as directed by the Court, the Commission provides further explanation of its decision to not initiate a rulemaking at this time.
Filing Dates for the Montana Special Congressional Election
Montana has scheduled a Special General Election on May 25, 2017, to fill the U.S. House of Representatives seat in the At-Large Congressional District vacated by Representative Ryan Zinke. Committees required to file reports in connection with the Special General Election on May 25, 2017, shall file a 12-day Pre-General Report, and a 30-day Post-General Report.
