Metropolitan Planning Organization Coordination and Planning Area Reform
This rulemaking rescinds certain transportation planning regulations pertaining to the establishment of the metropolitan planning area (MPA) boundaries, the designation of metropolitan planning organizations (MPO), and the coordination among MPOs. The amendments contained in this rule carry out the statutory mandate to rescind the final rule published on December 20, 2016, on this topic.
Buy America Waiver Notification
This notice provides information regarding FHWA's finding that a Buy America waiver is appropriate for 33 iron and steel components of Georgia Ports Authority-procured Rail Mounted Gantry (RMG) cranes that will increase intermodal capacity at the Garden City Terminal in Garden City, Georgia. These iron and steel components are not manufactured (from melting to coating) in the United States in sufficient and reasonably available quantities and of a satisfactory quality.
Notice of Final Federal Agency Action on Proposed Highway in Arizona
The FHWA is issuing this notice to announce action taken by the USACE that are final within the meaning of the United States Code. The action relates to the construction of the South Mountain Freeway/ Loop 202 Project (Project) in Maricopa County, in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, in the State of Arizona. The USACE granted a Department of the Army permit, pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, as amended, authorizing the Arizona Department of Transportation (AZDOT) to discharge dredged or fill material into Waters of the United States at specified locations related to the Project.
Notice of Final Federal Agency Actions of Proposed Highway/Interchange Improvement in California; Statute of Limitations on Claims
The FHWA, on behalf of Caltrans, is issuing this notice to announce actions taken by Caltrans, that are final. The actions relate to the proposed highway project, Alameda Creek Bridge Replacement Project on State Route 84 (SR-84) between the City of Fremont and the town of Sunol in southern Alameda County, State of California. Those actions grant licenses, permits, and approvals for the project.
Notice To Rescind Notice of Intent To Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement: Taylorsville Mobility Study, Salt Lake County, State of Utah
The FHWA is issuing this notice to advise the public that the Notice of Intent (NOI), issued on March 2, 2010, to prepare an EIS is being rescinded for the proposed Taylorsville Mobility Study transportation project. The proposed EIS was to analyze and address the regional transportation connectivity needs on the west side of the Salt Lake Valley in the area bounded by 6200 South, 4700 South; Bangerter Highway and Redwood Road in Salt Lake County, State of Utah. National Performance Management Measures; Assessing Performance of the National Highway System, Freight Movement on the Interstate System, and Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program
The FHWA is extending the comment period for a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) and request for comments, which was published on October 5, 2017. The original comment period is set to close on November 6, 2017. The extension is based on concern expressed by stakeholders that this closing date does not provide sufficient time to review and provide comprehensive comments on the proposal. The FHWA recognizes that others interested in commenting may have similar concerns, but is mindful of commenters who have expressed opposition to a lengthy rulemaking process. Therefore, the closing date for comments is extended, which will provide stakeholders interested in commenting additional time to submit responses to the docket.
Motorcyclist Advisory Council to the Federal Highway Administration
This notice announces the first meeting of the Motorcycle Advisory Council (MAC) to the FHWA. The purpose of this meeting is to advise the Secretary of Transportation, through the Administrator of the FHWA, on infrastructure issues of concern to motorcyclists, including; barrier design, road design, construction and maintenance practices, and the architecture and implementation of intelligent transportation system technologies, pursuant to Section 1426 of the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.
