Secretarial Authorization for a Member of the Department of the Navy to Serve on the Board of Directors, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society
In accordance with 10 U.S.C. 1033, the Secretary of the Navy, with the concurrence of the Department of Defense General Counsel, has authorized Vice Admiral W.D. French, Commander, Navy Installations Command, to serve without compensation on the Board of Directors of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. Authorization to serve on the Board of Directors has been made for the purpose of providing oversight and advice to, and coordination with, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. Participation of the above official in the activities of the Society will not extend to participation in day-to-day operations.
Meeting of the U.S. Naval Academy Board of Visitors
The U.S. Naval Academy Board of Visitors will meet to make such inquiry, as the Board shall deem necessary, into the state of morale and discipline, the curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, and academic methods of the Naval Academy. The executive session of this meeting from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on June 11, 2012, will include discussions of disciplinary matters, law enforcement investigations into allegations of criminal activity, and personnel issues at the Naval Academy, the disclosure of which would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. For this reason, the executive session of this meeting will be closed to the public.
Notice of Availability of Record of Decision for TRIDENT Support Facilities Explosives Handling Wharf at Naval Base Kitsap at Bangor, Kitsap County, WA
The United States Department of the Navy (DoN), after carefully weighing the operational and environmental consequences of the proposed action, announces its decision to construct and operate an Explosives Handling Wharf (EHW-2) adjacent to the existing Explosives Handling Wharf in Hood Canal on the waterfront of Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) at Bangor, WA. The DoN has decided to implement the preferred alternative, Alternative 1, Combined Trestle, Large Pile Wharf, as described in the TRIDENT Support Facilities EHW-2 Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) dated March 2012. Alternative 1 is also the Environmentally Preferable Alternative and will fully meet the DoN's purpose and need to support future program requirements for TRIDENT submarines homeported at NBK at Bangor, Washington, and the TRIDENT II (D5) Strategic Weapons System. This decision will allow the DoN to continue support of TRIDENT Program operational requirements through 2042.
