Department of Justice 2025 – Federal Register Recent Federal Regulation Documents

The Department of Justice is issuing a final rule to implement Executive Order 14117 of February 28, 2024 (Preventing Access to Americans' Bulk Sensitive Personal Data and United States Government- Related Data by Countries of Concern), by prohibiting and restricting certain data transactions with certain countries or persons.

The CJIS Division, FBI, DOJ, will be submitting the following information collection request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.

The Office of Justice Programs ("OJP"), a bureau of the Department of Justice and the component under which the Office for Victims of Crime ("OVC") resides, is withdrawing a proposed rule that was published in the Federal Register on February 5, 2024, which proposed to add a subpart to its regulations to replace the existing Victim Compensation Program Guidelines under the Victims of Crime Act, and update and codify requirements for that Program.

The Department of Justice ("DOJ," "the Department") is proposing amendments and other clarifications to the scope of certain exemptions, to update and add various definitions, and to make other modernizing changes to the Attorney General's Foreign Agents Registration Act ("FARA") implementing regulations.
