Meeting of the National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality

The Patient Safety Rule authorizes AHRQ, on behalf of the Secretary of HHS, to list as a PSO an entity that attests that it meets the statutory and regulatory requirements for listing. A PSO can be ``delisted'' by the Secretary if it is found to no longer meet the requirements of the Patient Safety Act and Patient Safety Rule, when a PSO chooses to voluntarily relinquish its status as a PSO for any reason, or when a PSO's listing expires. AHRQ has accepted a notification of voluntary relinquishment from Fides, LLC, PSO number P0134, of its status as a PSO, and has delisted the PSO accordingly.

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has a comprehensive web-based Library of Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) Resources to help make available the PCOR research, findings, tools, and other resources that have been developed as a result of investments by public, private, nonprofit, and academic organizations. This Library of PCOR Resources includes PCOR findings and evidence- based tools that have appeared in the published literature, as well as studies and projects that are in progress. The information in this web-based library is intended to assist researchers who may be conducting new studies, as well as clinicians, policymakers, consumers, and others who are seeking access to evidence- based health information. Each resource provided in the library provides a summary and access to information on PCOR studies and related syntheses and translations. Through this Request for Information (RFI), AHRQ is seeking feedback about the Library of PCOR Resources and the materials that can be accessed there to gauge how well the Library and those materials meet the needs of potential users in the general public.

Through this Request for Information (RFI), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is seeking information from the public, hospitals and other health care organizations, clinicians, quality improvement experts, researchers, and quality measure developers about current use of the AHRQ Quality Indicators (AHRQ QIs) for quality improvement efforts. AHRQ recognizes that the AHRQ QIs have been adopted for other uses, but for the purpose of this RFI, the Agency is specifically seeking information about quality improvement initiatives such as those that seek to: Improve clinical practice (e.g., adherence to guidelines, coordination of care); improve patient safety or reduce harm; address disparities in health or care; improve prevention practices; and collaborate with community groups to improve health or care. AHRQ is also seeking information about the ways in which the Agency can increase use of the AHRQ QI measures for quality improvement, for example by refining measures, summarizing best practices, creating training materials, developing standardized metrics, and/or convening learning networks. This notice announces the intention of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to request that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approve the proposed information collection project ``Expanding the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP) to Reduce Central Line-Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSI) and Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) in Intensive Care Units (ICU) with Persistently Elevated Infection Rates.'' This proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on July 28, 2017, and allowed 60 days for public comment. AHRQ did not receive any substantive public comments. In response to internal project team feedback, the proposed data collection has been modified in order to increase efficiency and decrease respondent burden. Modifications include consolidation of two data collection tools (the Team Checkup Tool and the ICU Assessment) into one ICU Assessment and decreasing the frequency of administration. The modifications also now require broad administration of the ICU Action Plan, which previously was administered only to those sites that had a site visit. The purpose of this notice is to allow an additional 30 days for public comment.
