Community Engagement on the Open Security Controls Assessment Language (OSCAL)
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking to identify stakeholders involved in ongoing or planned activities, including but not limited to standardization, education, and adoption, related to the Open Security Controls Assessment Language (OSCAL).
National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announces that the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee (NAIAC or Committee) will hold a virtual briefing session. This session will be held via web conference on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The primary purpose of this informational briefing organized by the NAIAC's AI in Work and the Workforce Working Group is to have invited guests brief the full Committee on topics of interest related to AI the workforce. The briefings are from outside subject matter experts to the full Committee. The Industrial Advisory Committee (Committee) will hold an open meeting both in-person and via web conference on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Eastern Time.
CHIPS National Advanced Packaging Manufacturing Program (NAPMP) Advanced Packaging Research and Development
The CHIPS Research and Development Office (CHIPS R&D) intends to announce, via a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), an open competition for new research and development (R&D) activities to establish and accelerate domestic capacity for semiconductor advanced packaging. The purpose of this NOI is to offer preliminary information to potential applicants, facilitating the development of meaningful partnerships and strong, responsive proposals relevant to one or more of five R&D areas: Equipment, Tools, Processes, and Process Integration; Power Delivery and Thermal Management; Connector Technology, Including Photonics and Radio Frequency (RF); Chiplets Ecosystem; and Co-design/Electronic Design Automation (EDA). In addition to the R&D areas, the NOFO is expected to include a specific opportunity for prototype development in exemplar application areas such as high-performance computing and low-power systems needed for AI.
Advisory Committee on Earthquake Hazards Reduction Meeting
The Advisory Committee on Earthquake Hazards Reduction (ACEHR or Committee) will hold an open meeting on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time and Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time. The primary purpose of this meeting is for the Committee to discuss the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) agency activities presented in June and focus areas for the Committee's 2025 ACEHR Biennial Report on the Effectiveness of NEHRP. The agenda may change to accommodate Committee business. The final agenda will be posted on the NEHRP website at https://www.nehrp.gov/committees/meetings.htm.

The primary purpose of this meeting is for the Committee to report working group findings, identify actionable recommendations, and receive public briefings. The briefings are from outside subject matter experts to the full Committee from areas such as industry, nonprofit organizations, the scientific community, the defense and law enforcement communities, and other appropriate organizations.
