The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has been delegated responsibility by the Secretary of Commerce to promulgate regulations concerning the management and licensing of federally funded inventions. Under the Lab-to-Market Cross Agency Priority (CAP) goal co-led with the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), NIST is initiating an effort to advance the President's Management Agenda and modernize government for the 21st century by assuming the responsibility for and rebuilding the Interagency Edison (iEdison) system for reporting extramural inventions created with federal funding. NIST requests information from the public regarding the current state of the iEdison system, including, but not limited to, specific challenges and recommended improvements. The information received in response to this RFI will inform NIST in developing a redesigned iEdison.

FIPS 186-5 specifies four techniques for the generation and verification of digital signatures that can be used for the protection of data: The Rivest-Shamir Adelman Algorithm (RSA), the Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA), the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), and the Edwards curve Digital Signature Algorithm (EdDSA). Elliptic curves recommended for government use with ECDSA and EdDSA are specified in draft NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-186, Recommendations for Discrete-Logarithm Based Cryptography: Elliptic Curve Domain Parameters. We are also requesting comments on draft SP 800-186.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is soliciting public comment on a proposed revision to Voluntary Product Standard (PS) 20-15, American Softwood Lumber Standard. This standard, prepared by the American Lumber Standard Committee, serves the procurement and regulatory needs of numerous federal, state, and local government agencies by providing for uniform, industry-wide grade- marking and inspection requirements for softwood lumber. The implementation of the standard also allows for uniform labeling and auditing of treated wood and wood packaging materials. As part of a five-year review process, NIST is seeking public comment and invites interested parties to review the revised standard and submit comments.
