Annual Surveys in the Manufacturing Area
The Bureau of the Census (Census Bureau) is conducting the 2006 Annual Surveys in the Manufacturing Area. The 2006 Annual Surveys consist of the Current Industrial Reports surveys, the Annual Survey of Manufactures, the Survey of Industrial Research and Development, the Survey of Plant Capacity Utilization, and the Survey of Pollution Abatement Costs and Expenditures. We have determined that annual data collected from these surveys are needed to aid the efficient performance of essential governmental functions and have significant application to the needs of the public and industry. The data derived from these surveys, most of which have been conducted for many years, are not publicly available from non-governmental or other governmental sources.

Service Annual Survey for 2006
In accordance with Title 13, United States Code (U.S.C.), Sections 182, 224, and 225, the Bureau of the Census (Census Bureau) has determined that limited financial data (revenue, expenses, and the like) for selected service industries are needed to provide a sound statistical basis for the formation of policy by various governmental agencies. These data also apply to a variety of public and business needs. To obtain the desired data, the Census Bureau announces the administration of the 2006 Service Annual Survey (SAS).
Annual Retail Trade Survey
The Bureau of the Census (Census Bureau) is conducting the Annual Retail Trade Survey (ARTS). The Census Bureau has determined a need to collect data covering annual sales, e-commerce sales, percent of e-commerce sales to customers located outside the United States, year-end inventories, total operating expenses, purchases, accounts receivables and, for select industries, merchandise line sales and percent of sales by class of customer.
Annual Wholesale Trade Survey
The Bureau of the Census (Census Bureau) is conducting the Annual Wholesale Trade Survey (AWTS), formerly named the Annual Trade Survey. The Census Bureau has determined a need to collect data covering annual sales, e-commerce sales, inventories, purchases, commissions, and operating expenses for the wholesale trade sector. These data are important inputs to the Bureau of Economic Analysis's preparation of National Income and Products accounts and its annual input-output tables.
Census Advisory Committees
The Bureau of the Census (Census Bureau) is giving notice of the following Census Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting: A special Joint Census Advisory Committee meeting of the CACs on Race and Ethnic Populations, the 2010 CAC, and the CAC of Professional Associations (CACPA), to be held on November 30, 2006. The survey, which has been conducted annually since 1974, is designed to collect information on the number of employees, payroll, geographic location, current operational status, and the type of business for the establishments of multilocation companies. We have determined that annual data collected from this survey are needed to aid the efficient performance of essential governmental functions and have significant application to the needs of the public and industry. The data derived from this survey are not available from any other source.

Census Information Center Program
The Bureau of the Census (Census Bureau) seeks proposals from eligible organizations to create 15 Census Information Centers. This notice provides information related to eligibility and program requirements. The Census Information Center (CIC) Program is an integral part of the Census Bureau's data dissemination network. The CIC Program was established over 17 years ago to make census data more widely available to nongovernmental organizations representing hard-to- enumerate populations. There are currently 45 such organizations participating as Census Information Centers in the CIC Program. The Census Bureau will consider all complete proposals received before the appropriate deadline.
