The safety zone is needed to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from potential hazards associated with a marine event involving a fireworks display. The Coast Guard is amending its regulations for annual marine events in the Sector Houston-Galveston area of responsibility. This rulemaking establishes a special local regulation to provide for the safety of life on certain waters of the San Jacinto River, in Houston, TX and will be enforced annually during a high-speed boat race on the first or second Saturday in March. This regulation prohibits non- registered participants from being within the specified zones unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Houston-Galveston or designated representative.

The Coast Guard is temporarily modifying the operating schedule that governs the Cherry Street Bridge, mile 2.29, over the Milwaukee River. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Milwaukee have requested this temporary deviation to allow contractors to complete an extensive rehabilitation of the bridge.
