Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation June 2010 – Federal Register Recent Federal Regulation Documents

The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) is proposing a new routine use applicable to all of its existing systems of records maintained pursuant to the Privacy Act of 1974, as amended (5 U.S.C. 552a), adding a new routine use to an existing system of records, and is amending its systems of records to make technical and clarifying changes.

Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation's regulations on Allocation of Assets in Single-Employer Plans and Benefits Payable in Terminated Single-Employer Plans prescribe interest assumptions for valuing and paying certain benefits under terminating single-employer plans. This final rule (1) amends the asset allocation regulation to adopt interest assumptions for plans with valuation dates in the third quarter of 2010 and (2) amends the benefit payments regulation to adopt interest assumptions for plans with valuation dates in July 2010. Interest assumptions are also published on PBGC=s Web site (https:// www.pbgc.gov).

The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (``PBGC'') intends to request that the Office of Management and Budget (``OMB'') approve modifications to a collection of information under the Paperwork Reduction Act. The purpose of the information collection is to enable the PBGC to pay benefits to participants and beneficiaries. PBGC intends to add three new forms to the information collection and to modify an approved form.
