The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is extending the comment period of a notice that was published in the Federal Register (FR) on March 1, 2013 (78 FR 13911), that announced the request for comments on the proposed revisions in Chapter 3, ``Design of Structures, Components, Equipment, and Systems;'' and the request for comment on NUREG-0800, ``Standard Review Plan for the Review of Safety Analysis Reports for Nuclear Power Plants: LWR Edition.'' The public comment period was scheduled to expire on April 1, 2013; however, several stakeholders requested additional time for review to provide more meaningful comments on the draft staff guidance. In order to allow the public sufficient time to review and comment on the draft staff guidance, the NRC has decided to extend the comment period for the draft guidance document until May 1, 2013.
