Rule R698-7 - Emergency Vehicles
Section R698-7-8 - Ambulance Vehicles

(1) A publicly owned or privately owned ambulance vehicle can be designated as an emergency vehicle if the vehicle is licensed by the Utah Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services to provide emergency and non-emergency ambulance services under Title 26, Chapter 8a.
(2) An industrial ambulance vehicle can be designated as an emergency vehicle if:
(a) the
vehicle is in compliance with the emergency lights and siren requirements of
Title 41, Chapter 6a;
(b) the
vehicle is properly insured;
(c)
the vehicle is licensed and has a current safety inspection certificate;
and
(d) the company that owns the
vehicle receives written authorization to operate the vehicle as an emergency
vehicle from:
(i) the sheriff of the county in
which the company is located; and
(ii) the chief of police of the city, if any,
in which the company is located.
