Section R426-5-200 - Scope of Practice

(1) The Department may license an individual as an EMR, EMT, AEMT, EMT-IA, Paramedic, or CRT who meets the requirements in this rule.
(2) The Committee adopts as the standard for EMR, EMT, AEMT, EMT-IA, and Paramedic training and competency the National Association of State EMS Officials. National EMS Scope of Practice Model 2019 (Report No. DOT HS 812-666). Washington, DC: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
(3) An EMR, EMT, AEMT, EMT-IA, Paramedic, or CRT may perform the skills to their level of licensure, as adopted in this section.
(4) A CRT may perform skills including crisis response triage, discussion of available resources, and referral to appropriate mental health professions as determined by Department- approved training and local mental health authority approved protocols in the corresponding response area.
