Section R392-200-11 - Water Supply

(1) The governing body shall ensure that:
(a) the potable water
system within a school, including any drinking fountain, lavatory, shower and
food facility is designed, installed, and operated according to the
requirements set forth by:
(i) Plumbing
Code;
(ii) the Utah Department of
Environmental Quality, Division of Drinking Water under Title R309, Drinking
Water; and
(iii) local health
department regulations;
(b) bottled water supplied or sold by the
school meets the bottled water requirements of the Utah Department of
Agriculture and Food; and
(c) the
local health officer is notified as soon as reasonably possible but no longer
than four hours after the discovery of a continuing water supply
interruption.
(2) If the water supply is estimated to be or has been interrupted for four hours or more, the local health officer may require the school to close, or provide students and staff with an alternative source of potable water approved by the local health department.
