Section 3A:56-7.3 - General medical practices

(a) The home shall ensure that any medical, dental, psychological and psychiatric treatment or medication administered to a child is explained to the child.
(b) When serious accidents or illnesses occur to a child, the home shall take necessary emergency action and notify the parents and the Division's worker or other placing agency immediately. The home shall document these incidents in the child's record.
(c) When a child or staff member has a communicable disease, as specified in the table in this subsection, the home shall:
1. Obtain a
note from a licensed physician treating the child or staff member, confirming the
diagnosis and indicating that there is no risk to the child or staff member, or to
others before the child or staff member participates in group activities;
2. Isolate the child or staff member posing a risk
to others; and
3. Contact the New Jersey
State Department of Health, the local health department, or other appropriate public
health authority when the child or staff member has a reportable disease, as
specified in the table in this subsection.
