Special Technical Committee on Color Test Reagents/Kits for Preliminary Identification of Drugs of Abuse
The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is convening a Special Technical Committee (STC) on Drug Color Tests. The purpose of the STC will be to update and revise the minimum performance standard for NIJ Standard-0604.01, Color Test Reagents/Kits for Preliminary Identification of Drugs of Abuse. NIJ intends to use members and affiliates of the Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) Seized Drug Subcommittee as the members of the STC.

The Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Statistics, will be submitting the following information collection request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register Volume 86, Number 125, page 35347, on July 2, 2021, allowing a 60-day comment period. Following publication of the 60-day notice, the Bureau of Justice Statistics received three requests for the survey instrument and seven communications containing suggestions for revisions to the collection of data and regarding the administration of the instrument, which are addressed in Supporting Statement Part A.

The Department of Justice (DOJ), Bureau of Justice Assistance will be submitting the following information collection request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The Death in Custody Reporting Act (DCRA) requires states and federal law enforcement agencies to report certain information to the Attorney General regarding the death of any person occurring during interactions with law enforcement officers or while in custody. It further requires the Attorney General and the Department of Justice (Department) to collect the information, establish guidelines on how it should be reported, annually determine whether each state has complied with the reporting requirements, and address any state's noncompliance.

Agency Information Collection Activities: Proposed Collection; Comments Requested; Reinstatement of a Previously Approved Collection: Firearm Inquiry Statistics (FIST) Program
The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), Office of Justice Programs, Department of Justice (DOJ), will be submitting the following information collection request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register. BJS received one comment in response. The comment supported reinstatement of the FIST collection. It also suggested that FIST could collect information on how often firearms are transferred without a passed background check due to checks not being completed in the allowable time. However, information on this may be found in NICS Operations Reports. The comment also suggested a study of NICS data flow that is outside the scope of the immediate FIST project but would affect the data FIST collects from various sources.

Notice of Re-Establishment of the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice
Under the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act of 1972 (FACA) and the Government in the Sunshine Act of 1976, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention gives notice of its intent to reestablish the charter for the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice (FACJJ).
