Agency Information Collection Activities; Proposed Collection; Comment Request
The information collection requirements described below will be submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA). The FTC seeks public comments on the agency's shared enforcement with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (``CFPB'') of the information collection requirements in subpart N of the CFPB's Regulation V (``Rule''). That clearance expires on November 30, 2018.
Guides for the Jewelry, Precious Metals, and Pewter Industries
The Federal Trade Commission (``FTC'' or ``Commission'') adopts revised Guides for the Jewelry, Precious Metals, and Pewter Industries (``Jewelry Guides'' or ``Guides''). This document summarizes the Commission's revisions to the previous Guides and includes the final Guides as revised. The FTC intends to ask the Office of Management and Budget (``OMB'') to extend for an additional three years the current Paperwork Reduction Act (``PRA'') clearance for the information collection requirements in the FTC Red Flags, Card Issuers, and Address Discrepancies Rules \1\ (``Rules''). That clearance expires on November 30, 2018.
Privacy Act of 1974; System of Records
The FTC is publishing in final form a modification to all FTC Privacy Act system of records notices (SORNs) by amending and bifurcating an existing global routine use relating to assistance in data breach responses, to conform with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidance to federal agencies, OMB Memorandum 17-12.
Hearings on Competition and Consumer Protection in the 21st Century
The Federal Trade Commission seeks comment in connection with a forthcoming series of public hearings in the fall and winter 2018 to examine whether broad-based changes in the economy, evolving business practices, new technologies, or international developments might require adjustments to competition and consumer protection law, enforcement priorities, and policy. These hearings will cover a range of issues listed in the SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION section below. The Commission seeks the views of consumers, business representatives, economists, lawyers, academics, information technology professionals, and other interested parties. Commenters are invited to address one or more of the following topics generally, or with respect to a specific industry.
