EPA is announcing the extension of the public comment period on the proposed rule, ``Transportation Conformity Rule PM2.5 and PM10 Amendments.'' This proposed rule was published May 15, 2009 in the Federal Register (74 FR 23024), and written comments on the proposed rule were to be submitted by June 15, 2009. EPA also stated in the proposal that the comment period would be extended if a public hearing was requested by a certain date. On May 26, 2009, EPA received such a request to hold a public hearing for this proposed rule, and the public hearing was held on June 4, 2009 at the EPA in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As a result, EPA is notifying the public again that the deadline to submit public comments on the proposal is now June 29, 2009.

EPA is proposing to approve revisions to the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD) portion of the California State Implementation Plan (SIP). These revisions concern volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from organic solvent cleaning and degreasing operations. We are approving local rules that regulate these emission sources under the Clean Air Act as amended in 1990 (CAA or the Act). We are taking comments on this proposal and plan to follow with a final action.
