Environmental Protection Agency November 8, 2007 – Federal Register Recent Federal Regulation Documents

EPA is announcing that there will be a public hearing regarding the proposed rule on the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants from Petroleum Refineries, published September 4, 2007. The public hearing will be held on November 27, 2007 in Houston, Texas. EPA is also announcing that the comment period is being reopened until December 28, 2007. In addition, we note that additional material has been added to the docket since the proposed rule was published.

In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.), this document announces that an Information Collection Request (ICR) has been forwarded to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval. This is a request for a new collection. The ICR, which is abstracted below, describes the nature of the information collection and its estimated burden and cost.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is holding a public workshop to discuss the development of proposed regulations for the underground injection of carbon dioxide for geologic sequestration under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). SDWA requires EPA to protect underground sources of drinking water from contamination due to underground injection activities. The Underground Injection Control Program works with States and Tribes to oversee underground injection activities and prevent endangerment of drinking water sources. This public workshop will provide an opportunity for dialogue with representatives from industry, government, public interest groups, and the general public on geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide. The Agency plans to hold a second workshop in early 2008.
