Qualification of Drivers; Exemption Applications; Vision
FMCSA announces its denial of 92 applications from individuals who requested an exemption from the Federal vision standard applicable to interstate truck and bus drivers and the reasons for the denials. FMCSA has statutory authority to exempt individuals from the vision requirement if the exemptions granted will not compromise safety. The Agency has concluded that granting these exemptions does not provide a level of safety that will be equivalent to, or greater than, the level of safety maintained without the exemptions for these commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers.
Qualification of Drivers; Exemption Applications; Diabetes
FMCSA announces receipt of applications from 24 individuals for exemptions from the prohibition against persons with insulin- treated diabetes mellitus (ITDM) operating commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in interstate commerce. If granted, the exemptions would enable these individuals with ITDM to operate commercial motor vehicles in interstate commerce.
Agency Information Collection Activities; Revision of a Currently-Approved Information Collection Request: Financial Responsibility for Motor Carriers of Passengers and Motor Carriers of Property
In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA), FMCSA announces its plan to submit the Information Collection Request (ICR) described below to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for its review and approval. The FMCSA requests approval to revise and extend an information collection request (ICR) entitled, ``Financial Responsibility for Motor Carriers of Passengers and Motor Carriers of Property.'' The information collected will be used to help ensure that motor carriers of passengers and motor carriers of property maintain appropriate levels of financial responsibility to operate on public highways. On October 19, 2009, FMCSA published a Federal Register notice (74 FR 53543) allowing for a 60-day comment period on the revision of this ICR. No comments were received in response to the notice.
