We published a Federal Register Notice with a 60-day public comment period on these information collections on August 6, 2004 (69 FR 47978) and on November 5, 2004 (69 FR 64623). We are required to publish this notice in the Federal Register by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.

Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition for Federal and Federally-Assisted Programs
The FHWA is revising the regulation that sets forth governmentwide requirements for implementing the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act (Uniform Act). These changes will clarify present requirements, meet modern needs and improve the service to individuals and businesses affected by Federal or federally-assisted projects while at the same time reducing the burdens of government regulations. The regulation has not been fully reviewed or updated since it was issued in 1989. These amendments to the Uniform Act regulation will affect the land acquisition and displacement activities of 18 Federal Agencies including the new Department of Homeland Security.
Environmental Impact Statement: Municipality of Anchorage & Matanuska-Susitna Borough, AK
The FHWA is issuing this notice to advise the public that an environmental impact statement (EIS) will be prepared for a proposed bridge across Knik Arm between the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) and the Matanuska-Susitna (MatSu) Borough in Alaska. Scoping meetings for the proposed Knik Arm Crossing project will be held in Anchorage and Wasilla, Alaska during the Winter/Spring of 2005.
