The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Leonardo S.p.a. Model AW189 helicopters. This AD was prompted by a report of the bubble window departing from the helicopter during flight. This AD requires recalculating the life of critical parts and, depending on the results of the recalculation, replacement of these critical parts. This AD also requires replacement of a certain compressor case. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.
