Building 1 (Administration/Education Building) and Building 2 (Gymnasium)and Building 5 (Cafeteria) at the Gulfport JCC, originally built as the 33rd Avenue High School, were completed in 1954 and are considered eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). These buildings (Buildings 1, 2, and 5) sustained extensive damage during Hurricane Katrina and have not been rehabilitated. The Gulfport JCC has been operating at reduced student capacity in the remaining three buildings and eight modular buildings. DOL proposes to redevelop the Gulfport Job Corps Center (JCC) so that it can provide training for the 280-student capacity for which it was originally designed.

The Department of Labor (DOL), as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, conducts a preclearance consultation program to provide the general public and Federal agencies with an opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing collections of information in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA95) [44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A)]. This program helps to ensure that requested data can be provided in the desired format, reporting burden (time and financial resources) is minimized, collection instruments are clearly understood, and the impact of collection requirements on respondents is properly assessed. Currently, the Department of Labor is soliciting comments concerning the collection of data about the Evaluation of Strategies Used in TechHire and Strengthening Working Families Initiative Grant Programs.
