The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is soliciting proposals from organizations, groups, or individuals to enter into a cooperative agreement in a twelve (12) month project period for the development of a Corrections Learning Professional Competency Model. This project will identify the workplace learning competencies needed by correctional learning/training professionals at different organizational levels. It will define the competency, identify the relevant knowledge needed for its development, describe behaviors that are reflective of the competency, identify the skills required to use and develop the competency and suggest training strategies appropriate to the competency. The competency model will provide the foundation and focus, in conjunction with the NIC Learning and Performance White Paper (to be completed October, 2012), and the knowledge, skills, behaviors, responsibilities, and tasks needed for the future development and delivery of corrections learning work within the NIC Academy and the field of corrections. It will also provide a model for learning professionals in the field of corrections.

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) Community Services Division is soliciting proposals from organizations, groups, or individuals to enter into a cooperative agreement with NIC for up to 18 months beginning in October 2012. Work under this cooperative agreement is part of a larger NIC initiative, Evidence-Based Decision Making (EBDM) in Local Criminal Justice Systems. Work under this cooperative agreement will align with the activities of other cooperative agreements providing services under Phase III of this initiative.

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is soliciting proposals from organizations, groups, or individuals interested in entering into a 30-month cooperative agreement to assist at least two California counties with the implementation of the ``Transition from Jail to Community'' (TJC) model in response to California's Assembly Bill (AB) 109 realignment.

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) Community Services Division is soliciting proposals from organizations, groups, or individuals to enter into a cooperative agreement with NIC for up to 12 months beginning in September 2012. Work under this cooperative agreement is part of a larger NIC initiative, Evidence-Based Decision Making (EBDM) in Local Criminal Justice Systems. Work under this cooperative agreement will be coordinated with recipients of other cooperative agreements providing services under Phase III of this initiative. Specifically, under this cooperative agreement, the awardee will provide technical assistance to seven Phase III sites that have already been identified. During Phase II of the EBDM planning, each of seven sites identified change strategies based on their individual system planning activities. These change strategies are critical to meeting their system's harm reduction goals. The technical assistance from this award will be targeted toward expanding the knowledge and use of legal and evidence-based pretrial risk assessment and release practices among criminal justice stakeholders.

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is seeking applications from organizations, groups, or individuals to enter into a 18-month cooperative agreement to implement a blended-learning training program entitled Women Offenders: Developing an Agencywide Approach. This project will be completed in conjunction with the NIC Community Services Division and the awardee will work closely with NIC staff on all aspects of the project. To be considered, applicants must demonstrate, at a minimum, in-depth knowledge of (1) evidence-based, gender-responsive research and knowledge and practice in the policy, programming, and operation of women's jails, prisons, and community supervision agencies; (2) the preparation needed for the delivery of a blended-learning curriculum to correctional audiences and related stakeholders; (3) specific examples of expertise in directing implementation of similar projects in which blended learning was used; and (4) working collaboratively with correctional leadership and related stakeholders.
