The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) invites public comment on one currently approved Information Collection Request (ICR) abstracted below that we will submit to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for renewal in compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act. The ICR describes the nature of the information collection and its expected burden. This collection of information allows TSA to conduct security threat assessments on individuals on board aircraft operating in restricted airspace pursuant to an airspace waiver. This collection will enhance aviation security and protect assets on the ground that are within the restricted airspace.
Extension of Agency Information Collection Activity Under OMB Review: Flight Crew Self-Defense Training-Registration and Evaluation
This notice announces that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has forwarded the Information Collection Request (ICR) abstracted below to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval of an extension of the currently approved collection under the Paperwork Reduction Act. The ICR describes the nature of the information collection and its expected burden. TSA published a Federal Register notice, with a 60-day comment period soliciting comments, of the following collection of information on April 16, 2008 (73 FR 20699). The collection permits TSA to collect identifying information from flight and cabin crewmembers who register for self-defense classes, and solicits voluntary feedback from participants on the quality of the training.

Intent To Request Renewal From OMB of One Current Public Collection of Information: Flight Training for Aliens and Other Designated Individuals; Security Awareness Training for Flight School Employees
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) invites public comment on an existing information collection requirement abstracted below that will be submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for renewal in compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act. The collection involves conducting background checks for all aliens and other designated individuals seeking flight instruction (``candidates'') from Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-certified flight training providers. Through the information collected, TSA will determine whether a candidate is a threat to aviation or national security, and thus prohibited from receiving flight training. Additionally, flight training providers are required to conduct a security awareness program for their employees, and to maintain records associated with this training.
Intent To Request Approval From OMB of One New Public Collection of Information: Threat and Vulnerability Assessment for General Aviation Airports
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) invites public comment on a new information collection requirement abstracted below that the agency will submit to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for approval in compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act. The collection will include the submission of information pertaining to security concerns specific to each individual airport, as perceived by the airport operators of approximately 3,000 general aviation airports. The information collected is part of a program designed to perform a standardized threat and vulnerability assessment program for general aviation airports. The information collected will also be used to provide context for a feasibility study of the development of a program, based upon a risk-management approach, to provide grants to operators of general aviation airports for projects to upgrade security at such airports. A grant program will be established only if the Administrator determines that such a program is feasible based upon the information collected and additional research outside of the scope of this notice.

The collection involves implementing certain provisions of the Aviation Security Improvement Act of 1990 and the Aviation and Transportation Security Act that relate to the security of persons and property at airports operating in commercial air transportation.

TSA invites public comment on a new information collection requirement abstracted below that will be submitted to OMB for approval in compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act. The collection involves the Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS) maintenance of a database of all Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies that have received the Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Flying Armed Training course.
