This is a proposed extension of an information collection that was previously approved. CBP is proposing that this information collection be extended with no change to the burden hours. To provide notice and transparency to the public, the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announces a new Privacy Act system of records, the Electronic System for Travel Authorization, to collect and maintain a record of nonimmigrant aliens who want to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). This new system will determine whether the applicant is eligible to travel to the United States under the VWP by checking their information against various security and law enforcement databases. CBP is publishing a new system of records notice to permit the traveling public greater access to individual information and to provide a more complete understanding of how and where information pertaining to them is collected and maintained.
