This notice announces that the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Administration for Native Americans (ANA) has awarded five single-source urgent grants to fund projects that are designed to mitigate the impact of the devastation caused by the tsunami that seriously damaged American Samoa on September 29, 2009. As a result of the devastating tsunami, 32 people were killed and 277 homes, schools, businesses, and transportation systems were destroyed. The event left the people of American Samoa traumatized and in need of assistance to re-start their lives. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is amending the animal drug regulations to reflect approval of a new animal drug application (NADA) filed by Fort Dodge Animal Health, Division of Wyeth. The NADA provides for veterinary prescription use of propofol as an anesthetic in dogs and cats.

National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality: Request for Nominations for Public Members
Section 921 (now Section 941 of the Public Health Service Act (PHS Act)), 42 U.S.C. 299c, established a National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality (the Council). The Council is to advise the Secretary of HHS (Secretary) and the Director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) on activities proposed or undertaken to carry out the agency mission including providing guidance on (A) Priorities for health care research, (B) the field of health care research including training needs and information dissemination on health care quality and (C) the role of the Agency in light of private sector activity and opportunities for public private partnerships.
