Electroshock Weapons Measurement Methods and Issues Public Meeting
NIST invites manufacturers of electroshock weapons that deploy skin penetrating barbs for operation to attend a public meeting. The purpose of the meeting is for manufacturers to present to NIST nonproprietary information on their methods of measurement and test of the output of these weapons and associated lessons learned.
Announcing a Meeting of the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board
Pursuant to the Federal Advisory Committee Act, 5 U.S.C. App., notice is hereby given that the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board (ISPAB) will meet Wednesday, October 7, 2009, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. All sessions will be open to the public. The ISPAB was established by the Computer Security Act of 1987 (Pub. L. 100-235) and amended by the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (Pub. L. 107-347) to advise the Secretary of Commerce and the Director of NIST on security and privacy issues pertaining to federal computer systems. Advisory Committee on Earthquake Hazards Reduction Meeting
The Advisory Committee on Earthquake Hazards Reduction (ACEHR or Committee), will meet Monday, November 23, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, November 24, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The primary purpose of this meeting is to discuss and develop the 2010 Annual Report of the Effectiveness of the NEHRP Advisory Committee on Earthquake Hazard Reduction. The agenda may change to accommodate Committee business. The final agenda will be posted on the NEHRP Web site at https://nehrp.gov/.
Announcement of NIST Partnership Opportunities for Technology Transfer
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is interested in working with regional, state and local economic development organizations, technology incubation centers, technology- oriented public-private business development initiatives and other organizations and partnerships to facilitate the transfer of technologies developed within the NIST Labs to the private sector through potential licensing and/or collaboration. A sampling of commercially viable technologies developed at the NIST Labs may be viewed at: https://www.nist.gov/patents. This is not an opportunity to apply for government funding and NIST will not make any funds available to any party pursuant to this announcement.

International Code Council: The Update Process for the International Codes and Standards
The International Code Council (ICC), promulgator of the International Codes and Standards, maintains a process for updating the entire family of International Codes based on receipt of proposals from interested individuals and organizations involved in the construction industry as well as the general public. The codes are updated every three years (2009current edition, 2012, 2015 editions, etc.). In the past, the codes were updated on 2-18 month cycles, with an intervening supplement between cycles. Starting with the 2009/2010 Cycle, ICC is transitioning to a development cycle where there will only be a single cycle of code development with the codes split into two groups. For each group of codes, there are two hearings for each code development cycle; the first where a committee considers the proposals and recommends an action on each proposal and the second to consider comments submitted in response to the committee action on proposals.
