CPSC Workshop on Potential Ways To Reduce Third Party Testing Costs Through Determinations Consistent With Assuring Compliance; Reopening of the Comment Period
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission or CPSC) published a notice in the Federal Register on February 27, 2014 (79 FR 11088), announcing an April 3, 2014 public workshop regarding potential ways to reduce third party testing costs through determinations consistent with assuring compliance. In the Federal Register notice the Commission invited the public to submit any written comments by April 17, 2014. In response to the notice in the Federal Register the Juvenile Products Manufacturer's Association (JPMA) submitted a comment requesting a 90-day extension of the comment period to allow JPMA time to collect additional data from material manufacturers and test laboratories. The Toy Industry Association (TIA) also submitted a comment requesting the Commission keep the docket open to continue to collect data. To allow interested parties to submit additional comments or information, the Commission is reopening the comment period until July 16, 2014.
Safety Standard for Frame Child Carriers
The Danny Keysar Child Product Safety Notification Act, section 104 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA), requires the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission or CPSC) to promulgate consumer product safety standards for durable infant or toddler products. These standards are to be ``substantially the same as'' applicable voluntary standards or more stringent than the voluntary standard if the Commission concludes that more stringent requirements would further reduce the risk of injury associated with the product. The Commission is proposing a safety standard for frame child carriers in response to the direction under section 104(b) of the CPSIA. In addition, the Commission is proposing an amendment to the list of Notice of Requirements (NOR) issued by the Commission.
Submission for OMB Review; Comment Request-Safety Standard for Multi-Purpose Lighters
As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC or Commission) announces that the CPSC has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) a request for extension of approval of a collection of information associated with the Safety Standard for Multi-Purpose Lighters (OMB No. 3041-0130). In the Federal Register of March 4, 2014 (79 FR 12186), the CPSC published a notice to announce the agency's intent to seek an extension of approval of this collection of information. CPSC received no comments in response to that notice. Therefore, by publication of this notice, the Commission announces that CPSC has submitted to the OMB a request for extension of approval of that collection of information without change.

As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC or Commission) announces that the CPSC has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) a request for extension of approval of a collection of information relating to the procedures for the export of noncomplying products (OMB No. 3041-0003). In the Federal Register of March 4, 2014 (78 FR 12186), the CPSC published a notice announcing the agency's intent to seek an extension of approval of this collection of information. CPSC received no comments in response to that notice. Therefore, by publication of this notice, the Commission announces that CPSC has submitted to the OMB a request for extension of approval of that collection of information without change.

As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC or Commission) requests comments on a proposed extension of approval of a collection of information under the safety standard for toddler beds, approved previously under OMB Control No. 3041-0150. The Commission will consider all comments received in response to this notice, before requesting an extension of this collection of information from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

In accordance with the requirements of the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) of 1995 (44 U.S.C. chapter 35), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission or CPSC) invites comments on a proposed request for extension of approval of a collection of information relating to the Safety Standard for Bicycle Helmets (OMB No. 3041-0127). The Commission will consider all comments received in response to this notice before requesting an extension of approval of this collection of information from OMB.
