Extension of Public Comment Period on the Draft Environmental Assessment and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact for the Proposed License Renewal for Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc., Erwin, TN
On October 15, 2010, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) published a notice in the Federal Register (75 FR 63519), which announced, in part, that the public comment period for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC's) Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed license renewal for operations at the Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. (NFS) fuel fabrication facility in Erwin, Tennessee, closed on November 13, 2010. The purpose of this notice is to extend the public comment period on the Draft EA and Draft FONSI to December 31, 2010. On October 26, 2010, the NRC held a public meeting in Erwin, Tennessee, as part of the public comment process for the Draft EA and Draft FONSI. Additionally, members of the public have been submitting written comments on the Draft EA and Draft FONSI since the initial notice of availability of these documents was published on October 15, 2010. In response to requests received in writing, the comment period on the Draft EA and Draft FONSI is being extended to December 31, 2010.
Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes: Meeting Notice
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will convene a teleconference meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes (ACMUI) on December 13, 2010, to discuss: (1) Patient release following iodine-131 therapy; (2) rulemaking and implementation guidance for physical protection of byproduct material; and (3) the impacts of the draft safety culture policy statement for medical licensees.
