Agency Information Collection Activities: Proposed Collection; Comment Request
We propose to request an extension from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) of a currently approved information collection used by individuals applying for a research card. Research cards are necessary for access to original archival records in a National Archives and Records Administration facility. We invite you to comment on this proposed information collection pursuant to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.
Records Schedules; Availability and Request for Comments
The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) publishes notice of certain Federal agency requests for records disposition authority (records schedules). We publish notice in the Federal Register and on regulations.gov for records schedules in which agencies propose to dispose of records they no longer need to conduct agency business. We invite public comments on such records schedules.
Agency Information Collection Activities: Proposed Collection; Comment Request
NARA proposes to request an extension from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) of approval to use forms by which we collect information from people requesting military records so that we can locate, identify, and provide the requested information. We invite you to comment on this proposed information collection pursuant to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.
Federal Records Management: Digitizing Permanent Records and Reviewing Records Schedules
We are proposing to amend our electronic records management regulations to add a subpart containing standards for digitizing permanent Federal records so that agencies may dispose of the original source records, where appropriate and in accordance with the Federal Records Act amendments of 2014. We are also making a minor revision to our records schedule review provisions to establish a requirement for agencies to review, every five years, all records schedules that are ten years old and older, based on the date the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) approved the schedule.
