National Archives and Records Administration May 2014 – Federal Register Recent Federal Regulation Documents

In accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (5 U.S.C. app 2) and the second United States Open Government National Action Plan (NAP) released on December 5, 2013, NARA announces the following committee meeting to discuss improvements to the administration of FOIA and its policy matters.

NARA is giving public notice that the agency proposes to request extension of a currently approved information collection used to obtain information from private foundations or other entities in order to design, construct and equip Presidential libraries. The public is invited to comment on the proposed information collection pursuant to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) publishes notice at least once monthly of certain Federal agency requests for records disposition authority (records schedules). Once approved by NARA, records schedules provide mandatory instructions on what happens to records when no longer needed for current Government business. They authorize the preservation of records of continuing value in the National Archives of the United States and the destruction, after a specified period, of records lacking administrative, legal, research, or other value. Notice is published for records schedules in which agencies propose to destroy records not previously authorized for disposal or reduce the retention period of records already authorized for disposal. NARA invites public comments on such records schedules, as required by 44 U.S.C. 3303a(a).

This notice is published in accordance with the provisions of section 9(a)(2) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (Pub. L. 92-463, 5 U.S.C., App.) and advises of the creation of the National Archives and Records Administration's (NARA) Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Advisory Committee.
