Comptroller General's Advisory Council on Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government; Notice of Meeting
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is revising the Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government, known as the Green Book. As part of the revision process, GAO will hold a meeting of the Comptroller General's Advisory Council on Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government (Advisory Council) on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to provide input and recommendations on revisions to the Green Book. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss proposed revisions as a result of comments received on the June 2024 Green Book Exposure Draft. The meeting will be virtual and is open to the public.
Notice of Estimated Lump Sum Catch-Up Payments to Eligible 1983 Beirut Barracks Bombing Victims and 1996 Khobar Towers Bombing Victims and Planned Methodology; Request for Comment
GAO is now accepting comments on proposed lump sum catch-up payments to certain 1983 Beirut barracks bombing victims and certain 1996 Khobar Towers bombing victims who have submitted eligible applications for payment to the United States Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund. GAO is publishing this notice pursuant to the requirements of the Fairness for 9/11 Families Act. Comments should be sent to the email address below.
Financial Management and Assurance; Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government
On June 27, 2024, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued an exposure draft of proposed revisions to "Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government", also known as the Green Book. To help ensure that the standards continue to meet the needs of the Federal community and the public it serves, the Comptroller General of the United States established the Advisory Council on Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government (Green Book Advisory Council) to review GAO's proposed revisions to the standards and consider other necessary changes. We are requesting public comments on the proposed revisions in the 2024 exposure draft. All comments received from the public will be considered a matter of public record and will be posted on the GAO website.
Personnel Appeals Board; Procedural Rules
The Government Accountability Office Personnel Appeals Board (PAB or Board) is finalizing amendments to its regulations. The PAB published a proposed rule on November 24, 2023, which contained several significant refinements to the Board's procedures. The General Accounting Office Personnel Act of 1980 provides authority to make these changes.
Request for Nominations for the Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC)
The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 established the Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee to provide comments and recommendations to the Secretary of Health and Human Services on physician payment models and gave the Comptroller General responsibility for appointing its members. GAO is now accepting nominations of individuals for this committee.
Request for Nominations for the Board of Governors of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act gave the Comptroller General of the United States responsibility for appointing up to 21 members to the Board of Governors of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. In addition, the Directors of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the National Institutes of Health, or their designees, are members of the Board. As the result of terms ending in September 2024, GAO is accepting nominations in the following category: a representative of a Federal health program or agency. The meeting will be virtual and is open to the public.
Government Auditing Standards-2024 Revision
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) has issued its 2024 revision to Government Auditing Standards, known as the ``Yellow Book.'' To help ensure that the standards continue to meet the needs of the government auditing community, the Comptroller General of the United States established the Yellow Book Advisory Council to provide input on revisions to the Yellow Book. This 2024 revision of the standards includes the Advisory Council's input regarding the changes. It also includes input from public comments received on the 2023 exposure draft. The changes contained in the 2024 revision to Government Auditing Standards reflect major developments in the auditing, accountability, and financial management professions. The 2024 revision to Government Auditing Standards is available in electronic format for download from GAO's web page at www.gao.gov using GAO-24-106786 as a report number. It will also be available for sale in hardcopy from the Government Publishing Office in the near future at https://bookstore.gpo.gov or other GPO locations listed there. Request for Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) Nominations
The Balanced Budget Act of 1997 established the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) and gave the Comptroller General responsibility for appointing its members. The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is now accepting nominations for MedPAC appointments that will be effective in May 2024. Nominations should be sent to the email address listed below. Acknowledgement of receipt will be provided within a week of submission.
Request for Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) Nominations
The Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 (CHIPRA) established MACPAC to review Medicaid and CHIP access and payment policies and to advise Congress on issues affecting Medicaid and CHIP. CHIPRA gave the Comptroller General of the United States responsibility for appointing MACPAC's members. The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is now accepting nominations for MACPAC appointments that will be effective May 2024. Nominations should be sent to the email address listed below.
