Investigation Into Conditions Affecting United States Carriers in Connection With Canadian Ballast Water Regulation in the United States/Canada Great Lakes Trade
The Federal Maritime Commission (Commission) has initiated an investigation into conditions created by the Government of Canada (Canada) in connection with regulation of ballast water management systems that may adversely affect the operation of United States carriers in the United States/Canada Great Lakes trade.
Demurrage and Detention Billing Requirements
The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) received approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for an information collection request associated with the final rule for Demurrage and Detention Billing Requirements. This rule announces the effective date for the requirements concerning contents of demurrage and detention invoices. In the final rule published February 26, 2024, we stated we would publish a document in the Federal Register (FR) announcing the effective date of the collection-of-information related sections upon OMB approval. This rule establishes May 28, 2024, as the effective date of the relevant provisions.
Demurrage and Detention Billing Requirements; Correction
This document corrects the preamble to a final rule published in the Federal Register on February 26, 2024, concerning demurrage and detention billing requirements. This correction provides information regarding situations in which vessel-operating common carriers (VOCCs) enter into written contracts with motor carriers that use containers in the transportation of goods.
National Shipper Advisory Committee May 2024 Meeting
Notice is hereby given of a meeting of the National Shipper Advisory Committee (NSAC), pursuant to the Federal Advisory Committee Act. The Committee advises the Federal Maritime Commission. The meeting will be held for the purpose of soliciting and discussing information, insight, and expertise pertaining to conditions in the ocean freight delivery system relevant to the Commission.
