The proposed consent decree resolves claims alleged in the complaint against Union Carbide Corp. and Umetco VerDate Sep<11>2014 17:15 Jun 03, 2024 Jkt 262001 Minerals Corp. (Defendants) under Section 107(a) of CERCLA for response costs incurred by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at the Uravan Uranium Project Superfund Site (Site), located in Montrose County, Colorado. The proposed consent decree requires Defendants to pay $600,000 to reimburse response costs incurred by the United States and to comply with institutional controls and other requirements for property owned within the Site. The publication of this notice opens a period for public comment on the proposed consent decree.
