More specifically, this ICR is to obtain clearance for statutory notice and certification provisions that assist employees and employers in meeting their FMLA-required third-party notification obligations. The recordkeeping requirements covered by this ICR are necessary in order for the DOL to carry out its statutory obligation under FMLA section 106 (29 U.S.C. 2616) to investigate and ensure employer compliance. OMB authorization for an ICR cannot be for more than three (3) years without renewal, and the current approval for this collection is scheduled to expire on May 31, 2018. Upon MSHA approval, the manufacturer must ensure the product continues to conform to the specifications and design evaluated and approved by the MSHA. In some instances, as part of the approval process, manufacturers are required to have a quality control or assurance plan.
