the Proposed Rule Change
The Exchange proposes to amend
certain procedural rules to implement
the change in the expiration date for
most option contracts to the third Friday
of the expiration month instead of the
Saturday following the third Friday. The

Change
In its filing with the Commission, the
Exchange included statements
concerning the purpose of and basis for
the proposed rule change and discussed
any comments it received on the
proposed rule change. The text of these

Exchange has prepared summaries, set
forth in Sections A, B, and C below, of
the most significant aspects of such

A. Self-Regulatory Organization’s

1. Purpose
On August 21, 2013, the Exchange
filed to change the expiration date for
most option contracts to the third Friday
of the expiration month instead of the
Saturday following the third Friday.3
This proposed rule change is intended
to clarify certain rule changes that were
made in the Expiration Date Filing and
to amend additional procedural and
other rules intended to implement the
change in expiration date for most
option contracts to the third Friday of
the expiration month instead of the
Saturday following the third Friday.
The Exchange has adopted rules to
change the expiration date for most
option contracts to the third Friday of
the expiration month instead of the
Saturday following the third Friday.4
The changes to the expiration date
apply to all standard expiration
