SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Information covered by this ICR supports implementation of the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program authorized in section 211 of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011 (Pub. L. 112– 56). This benefit directs the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), in cooperation with the DOL, to pay for up to 12 months of a training program in a high demand occupation for unemployed eligible veterans between the ages of 35 and 60 as determined by the DOL and VA. The program is to serve up to 45,000 veterans in fiscal year 2012 and up to 54,000 veterans from October 1, 2012, through March 31, 2014. The Act requires DOL to be the initial point of intake and to conduct preliminary eligibility determinations prior to linking applicants to the VA Application for VA Educational Benefits approved under OMB Control Number 2900–0154. This information collection is subject to the PRA. A Federal agency generally cannot conduct or sponsor a collection of information, and the public is generally not required to respond to an information collection, unless it is approved by the OMB under the PRA and displays a currently valid OMB Control Number. In addition, notwithstanding any other provisions of law, no person shall generally be subject to penalty for failing to comply with a collection of information if the collection of information does not display a valid Control Number. These plans are evaluated to determine if they are adequate for prevailing mining conditions. This information collection is subject to the PRA.
