It is critical to record the impact of these ARRA resources, current information on participants in these grants, and the services provided to them. Therefore, to obtain comprehensive information on participants served by and services provided with ARRA resources, DOL proposes an extension with revisions of an information collection set for ARRA HGEI grantees. The ARRA HGEI Grants information collection constitutes an information collection within the meaning of the PRA. Under the PRA, a Federal agency generally cannot conduct or sponsor a collection of information unless it is currently approved by the OMB under the PRA and displays a currently valid OMB control number. Furthermore, the public is generally not required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a currently valid OMB control number. In addition, notwithstanding any other provisions of law, no person shall generally be subject to penalty for failing to comply with a collection of information if the collection of information does not display a currently valid OMB control number. See 5 CFR 1320.5(a) and 1320.6. The DOL obtains OMB approval for this information collection under OMB Control Number 1205–0478. The current OMB approval is scheduled to expire on October 31, 2010.
